(PRWEB) December 18, 2004 -- Millions of Americans wait to the last minute to do holiday shopping if your one of those professional certified hypnotist, Rick Allen of the New Life Hypnosis Coaching Center, www.newlifehypnosiscenter.com , offers some stress reducing tips for that last minute day of shopping frenzy.

Plan your day the night before. Know exactly what gifts you still need to purchase and stick to your planned list of purchases. One of the big stressors in last minute shopping is not being able to find the exact items your looking for. You'll need to be flexible on some choices; color and model selections may be sold out. By remaining flexible your stress levels will stay in check, making your shopping experience more enjoyable.

Be careful of your intake of caffeine, including coffee, teas and sweets. Caffeine stimulates you and can cause stress levels to surge. Plan a healthy light lunch during your shopping day, a planned break gives you time to regroup, check your progress and relax. If you need a pick-me-up during the day, fresh fruits do a great job of giving you some natural energy.

Be prepared to spend additional time finding parking, waiting for customer service and of course standing in lines. Remain pleasant with store staff, they may be stressed and overworked. Hostel confrontations go nowhere and really raise the stress levels through the roof for all.

Another tip to help speed you along with your last minute gift buying is to have your cash, checkbook and credit cards ready for the purchase. Make sure your identification card is handy, rather then having to dig and fumble to find it.

Speaking of money, in order not to have high stress in January, have preset spending limits. Don't be tempted to grab that extra item if it's not on your list. According to a survey by the American Psychological Association (APA) sixty one percent of Americans claim lack of money and credit card debt as the biggest cause of holiday stress.

Remain alert and keep your valuables out of site. Unfortunately this is also the time of year that some depend on your hurried last minute shopping trip to take advantage of your carelessness. Do not leave valuables in plain site. Vehicles left with motors running, while you make a quick run into a store, are prime picks to send your stress level sky high when you return a minute latter to find your vehicle and gifts gone!

After a long day of last minute shopping the gifts are all wrapped and laid under the tree with care and you are settled in for a long winters nap, now you can relax knowing you kept your stress levels low and survived yet another holiday shopping season.
