I got this adorable recipe

I got this adorable recipe from one of my students yesterday. My daughter and I encountered the same problem as every other person seems to be having--a crumbly mess! We add another egg, as I didn't want to add more fat to them....the results were real cookie dough! I would suggest just 1 more egg! Happy holidays!

M&m cookies

Yep, needs at leat another 1/2 cup of butter and another egg. If you look at other cookie recipes you will see that 2 cups of flour and the sugars require 1 cup of butter and 2 eggs. I actually added peanut butter but the taste is still really bland.

Very good, I doubled the amount of butter used...

My son's class did this as a winter party craft yesterday, so we tried to make them today. After mixing the ingredients all together, the dough just didn't seem right--too dry/crumbly and I doubted I'd really be able to form decent "balls" out of it. I googled and found this site/recipe here and saw others had the same issue and suggested adding extra butter.

I added another 1/2 cup (1 full stick. With the first stick, I had let it sit at room temperature for several hours so it would be soft, so I put this 2nd stick in the microwave for about 20 seconds to soften it up a bit and just mixed it in with the rest of the ingredients.

The cookies came out really yummy!
So if you're planning on making these jars to give as a gift or for a kids' craft, I recommend editing the instructions to say "1 cup" of butter instead of "1/2 cup".
Thanks!

great!!

these cookies tasted really good... they were rather dry but my very smart mom just added another teaspoon of vanilla extract and tata they were fantastic! :)

Not very good..

This is a cute idea, but this recipe is not very good.. There is not enough liquids in the recipe and the batter is like damp sand and doesn't stay together. I tried upping the butter to 3/4 cup and that helped some, but it's still not very good.

I agree the dough was crumbly

I agree the dough was crumbly so I added more butter as well, but I REALLY like the cookies. So much so that I'm making them for a cookie exchange. They turned out crispy and crunchy and go really good with my tea!
