October's winding down; it's time to invite you into my house for Halloween! Here's what you'll see if you come Trick-or-Treating on Saturday night!
The heart of our home is the family room. It's one of my favorite places, and never more so than in the autumn. Year round, it's the place where we display an art collection, watch television, and read books.
In summer, the family room can get a little bit lonely; we spend long, warm summer evenings on the deck just outside. The fireplace is dark, and my favorite fireside chair rarely has a visitor.
But once cold weather moves in, so do we!
Our older dog Lindsey has a warm and cozy bed just behind my chair, while her pup friend Dicksie claims the warm spot on the hearthrug, in front of the fire. As for me, I wheel a little laptop table out of the closet where it's spent the summer months, and set up my fireside workstation:
The fireplace is even more cozy once the autumn decorations come inside:
Across the room, an antique chest sits beneath more art. The marble top holds special art objects--and the photo book from my grandmother's 100th birthday celebration. To decorate, I don't guild this lily, just add a little pumpkin for a Fall feeling:
From my chair, I have a clear view into our dining nook. It's where we start the day each morning:
Little Dicksie likes all the fall touches--and so do I!
Last but not least, who will be answering the door this year? Why, it's Professor McGonagall, and her little dragon, Dicksie!
